Safety signs are designed for this purpose, their task is to warn of potential hazards and thus reduce the risk of accidents and bodily injury. Safety signs also indicate specific behaviour in a given place. The choice of the type of health and safety signs depends on the nature of the workplace, the building infrastructure and the duties performed by employees. However, do health and safety pictograms have to appear in every public building and workplace? What are the penalties for not having health and safety signs? Occupational health and safety signage in workplaces is the basis for employee safety. The presence of signs minimizes the risk of accidents, which directly affects human health and work comfort. In addition to information and prohibition signs, there are also occupational health and safety instruction signs which, as the name suggests, order the performance of a specific activity or the taking of a required action. The need to use occupational health and safety signs results from legal regulations. According to the Labor Code, the employer is obliged to ensure employee safety at work. According to the Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of 26 September 1997 on general occupational health and safety regulations, each workplace where a potential hazard occurs must have appropriate OHS signage. In addition, information on the right to safe and hygienic working conditions is included in the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. Types of health and safety signs Occupational health and safety signs have been divided according to the type of message they convey and the hazards they pose. The following are distinguished: safety signs - evacuation: are intended to mark the evacuation route that leads to the exit in a dangerous situation safety signs - fire protection: concern the marking of fire equipment as well as specific behaviors that contribute to the spread of fire warning signs: warn of specific dangers prohibition signs: prohibit certain actions mandatory signs: they enforce proper behavior Employer's obligations in the field of occupational health and safety The employer not only provides work for its employees and controls its progress, but also has obligations directly related to Occupational Health and Safety. They are precisely defined in the Labor Code. In addition, the employer is obliged to ensure the safety of persons who do not work at the establishment but are temporarily present there. His duties include, among others: organizing work in safe and hygienic conditions, immediately removing any faults, complying with the orders and prohibitions of inspection bodies, organizing health and safety training and providing employees with specific guidelines related to the procedure in the event of failures and faults in installations or equipment. Consequences of lack of health and safety marking Since the employer’s obligations in the field of occupational health and safety arise directly from legal provisions, failure to comply with them results in specific consequences. Fines for lack of health and safety signs are usually in the form of money. The employer is fined for exposing employees to danger. In exceptional situations, the employer may receive a warning from the inspection services and an order to introduce appropriate changes, e.g. supplementing the health and safety pictograms. It does happen, however, especially if the problem recurs and the establishment does not respond to orders from control bodies, that the company is closed. The use of health and safety signs in the workplace results from the employer's obligation to provide employees with safe and hygienic working conditions. Penalties for the lack of occupational health and safety markings, as well as failure to comply with other regulations in this area, result in the employer being obliged to pay a fine or ultimately closing the establishment. all our products have the necessary Certificates depending on their purpose. and so: Safety signs - Fire protection are in accordance with PN-EN ISO 7010:2020-07+A1:2021-04 Safety signs - Technical fire protection measures in accordance with PN-N-01256/04:1997+A1:2003 Safety signs - Evacuation in accordance with PN-EN ISO 7010:2020-07+A1:2021-04 Safety signs - Evacuation in accordance with PN-N-01256/04:1997+A1:2003 Safety signs - Fire protection in accordance with PN-N-01256/04:1992 Photo:
